Burn From Absence is an immersive installation recreating the commemorative space of her Vietnamese family, whose philosophy is to wipe the slate clean of the past. Engaged in a reflection on the erosion of memory linked to the transmission of memories from one generation to the next, from one territory to the next, Emeline Courcier reconstitutes the snippets of her family chronology using artificial intelligence.

In the artist's hands, AI becomes a tool of reminiscence, a materialization of her unconscious tinged with forgery, despite the realism of the faces reinterpreted by the machine. Through this homage to her family mythology, Emeline questions our new relationship to image and truth, taking a deliberate sideways step through the controversial use of AI, adapting the art of re-enactement to the age of virtual programming.
